In the winter, RiverStage presented The Pavilion by Craig Wright. Set against the backdrop of a small-town reunion dance, the play weaves together romance, memory, and questions about destiny as former sweethearts reconnect after many years apart. The spring season featured The One-Act Play Festival, RiverStage’s annual celebration of short-form theatre. In July, audiences enjoyed Of Thee I Sing, the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical by George S. Kaufman, Morrie Ryskind, George Gershwin, and Ira Gershwin. This witty political satire follows an unlikely presidential campaign and the humorous events that unfold after an unexpected election victory. Filled with memorable music and clever social commentary, the production highlighted the enduring relevance of political satire while providing an entertaining summer musical experience.
The season concluded with Shakespeare in the Park: As You Like It, one of William Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies. Set in the enchanting Forest of Arden, the play follows a cast of exiles, lovers, and fools as they navigate mistaken identities, romance, and self-discovery. Presented in an outdoor setting and offered free to the community, the production continued RiverStage’s tradition of bringing Shakespeare to local audiences in an accessible and engaging format.
